This is a bit of a quick ramble because it is SO DAMN HOT out. My apartment does not have air conditioning, and on 90 fully humid days like today, I feel like I’m about to lose it.
One thing that has seemed to help me this summer is eating cold things. This includes cold fruit, salads, ice cream, and ice. While I have really been enjoying ice cream, I have definitely been a little worried about all of the sugar and other junk it contains. This means I do have some and that’s fine, but if I could I’d eat it all day, every day.
My solution to this has been chewing ice and I LOVE it. Except, apparently that can be a bad thing? Ice chewing is technically a form of pica (eating non food items like food) and can show signs of anemia, or partially cause anemia. The thing is, those two statements conflict each other, and often women who chew ice during pregnancy do not have anything wrong at all. That’s why I’m going to keep on chewing. It keeps me cool and keeps me satisfied. In fact, I’m going to pick up a bag on my way home.
